Innovation Bonus

There has been a nagging question rolling around in my mind the past few weeks.  The specifics are unimportant but the topic is. Where does innovation come from in large organizations?  More importantly, how is it that in large organizations and established industries (measured in number of people working) that ideas and innovation often seem to be nonexistent

I’ve mentioned The Innovator’s Dilemma before, it is worth the read (I listened to the audiobook).  It explains why large organizations often fail at dealing with disruptive technologies.

You many have heard of 20% time at Google.  I just learned about something similar at an Australian company.  “FedEx Days” is mentioned in this 10 minute, entertaining and extremely informative video.

I can’t think of an industry that could benefit more from the ideas mentioned in the video than ours.
