The contraction continues. The Houston Chronicle has an interesting story about KIAH-TV, they have found a new news formula…no anchors or reporters (not sure about weather people…I will try and find out). Cutting your way to profitability is only a short term solution.
Companies are interesting. Tribune, which owns KIAH, is managed by a bunch of 1970’s radio guys (and we all know how well radio is doing). Hearst, by contrast, which owns the Houston Chronicle, came in and set its employees in a new direction some time ago. They said, “Through the history of this paper your job was to create content for the print version first, and digital was second. From this day forward, reverse those priorities”.
