Kevin Rose from Digg is blogging about a possible refresh to Apple TV.
Apple is joining a march to marginalize local television stations. Begun with their iPad app, ABC is providing programs directly to users. Of course, you had to have an iPad, which not everyone does. But, everyone has a TV and the rumored price for the new Apple TV of $99 makes for a pretty easy math problem when faced with a $60 (or greater) cable bill per month. This is an interesting problem for the networks since they own profitable television stations in large markets. Can they afford to take audience from those stations? Before long there may be no choice.
Steve Jobs can make big things happen. For anyone who questions his ability to move mountains and change businesses, I highly recommend his appearance at D8. Listen carefully to his comments about Adobe and Flash.
The network lead-in shows are pretty important to late local newscasts…if users are watching your channel.
