Should our weather data be available on every website that will take it? The answer lies in history. By not creating specific local weather data and distributing universally, we have trained many users to go to non-local sources to get it. Now we are training users to go to Twitter and Facebook for our forecasts. Has anyone monetized Twitter or Facebook for themselves yet?
By ceding reponsibility for digital weather products to others, we have put the future, and control, in their hands, not our own.
