First is a top 10 list of things to do in 2011 from Lost Remote. LR is a group of forward thinkers and has been covering digital journalism for many years. The blog is a must read. What is most striking to me about the post is that it looks like a to-do list that would have been written for television stations four or five years ago. It is an excellent list but should have been completed by now. I’d be interested to know how many of you are frustrated with the digital progress of your companies.
Number eight is “Embrace Continuous News”. Terry Heaton leads the charge on Continuous News. If you don’t come away from his recent post realizing that weather is a continuous story and we can be leading the way for our stations, please read again!
Another post from Lost Remote links to a story about Twitter and a small station in Arkansas. The station has about 3,000 followers and that is characterized as “big results”…three thousand may not seem like a big number to larger market sales people. Only about 8% of Americans are using Twitter. Remember, small groups can aggregate into larger ones.
Happy New Year! Thanks for reading. I’m expecting posts from all of you in 2011!
