I have the AccuWeather apps on my iPhone and iPad.  I don’t use them but whenever an update comes through I’ll take a look and see what they are up to.

Most of these apps have the same things in common, in fact, if you take away the skin, they are really all the same.  Automated data.

The other day I opened up the AccuWeather app on the iPad and started scrolling down the forecast.  And scrolled…and scrolled…and scrolled.

Fourteen day forecast…really?  C’mon AccuWeather, you, more than anyone should realized how unrealistic this is.  Oh, here come the arguments, “…it’s just a trend or an outlook, or a suggestion.”  Baloney!  This is just plain irresponsible.  The general public doesn’t know little skill there is fourteen days out.  “But they want to know, they want an idea so they can make plans.”  Baloney.  They look to you because you are an authority…they expect you to be responsible.  They expect you to protect and look out for them.  Then, as the forecast changes over time, you just create confusion and ill will.  “But no one is complaining.”  Well, where else can they go?  Be careful…alternatives are popping all around.  Just ask newspapers.

Fourteen days…really?
