Recently finished a nice little book by Derek Sivers, called Anything You Want. It is a quick read and has a nice dose of motivation that I needed.
A few small sections of the book have been turned into videos. One is called “I Miss The Mob”.
The video reminds me of a study done in early 2000’s that found that a local network affiliated TV station running newscasts in the 1980’s could return profit margins of 40-60%. Grocery stores, by comparison, are happy to make a 2% margin. As viewers continue to leave the local newscasts, and advertisers find better ways to connect to users, some tough years are ahead. Read one of the latest posts from Terry Heaton.
The cab driver in the video is right. As viewers continue to leave local newscasts I’m afraid we’ll see more and more station employees being fitted for cement shoes.
